SUBJUCTIVE
A. Definisi
Subjunctive adalah kalimat yang digunakan untuk menyatakan pengharapan, pengandaian dan pernyataan yang tidak sesuai dengan kenyataan.
B. Pembagian subjunctive
A. Present subjunctive
Fungsi : untuk menyatakkan pengharapan, pengandaian dan pernyataan tetang sesuatu yang tidak sesuai dengan kenyataan sekarang.
Bentuk :
“Wish “ s + wish (that) S + S.Past
Example :
I wish (that) he came here
Reality : he doesn’t come here
“would rather” s+ would rather +s +s.past
Example:
I would rather they studied hard
Reality : they don’t study hard
As if/ as though
S+ v1+ as if/as though +s + s.past
Example :
She sings as if she is a singer
Reality : she is not a singer
If only
If only +s +s .past
Example:
If only he were in his room
Reality: he is not in his room
B. Past subjunctive
Fungsi : menyatakan pengharapan, pengandaian dan [ernyataan tentang sesuatu yang bertentangan dengan kenyataan dimasa lampau.
Bentuk :

“Wish”
EXAMPLE:
I wish I hadn’t been late 2 days ago
Reality: I was late 2 days ago

“Would rather”
Example:
I would rather you had finished your duty last week.
Reality: you didn’t finish your duty last week.

As if/ as though
Example:
She acted as though she had been an actress
Reality: she wasn’t an actress
|
If only
Example:
If only you had hit them.
Reality: you didn’t hit them.
C. Future subjunctive
Untuk menyatakan pengharapan tentang peristiwa / keadaan yang mungkin / tidak mungkin terjadi dimasa yang akan datang.
Example:
Dalam pembuatannya sesuai dengan contoh untuk persent dan past subjunctive tetapi hanya diganti dengan mengunakan rumus past future dan faktanya disusun dengan menggunakan tenses future.
I wish I would stop drinking liquor.
Reality: I wouldn’t stop drinking liquor.
